The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K. Palaniswami launched Priceless Saree & Dhoti Distribution Scheme a free dhoti & saree for poor. It is dhoti & saree distribution scheme for the poor in the state in view of upcoming Pongal Festival 2019. The objective of the scheme is to make sure that the poor families has good cloths to wear on the occasion of the festival & for the rest of the year.
The scheme will benefit 1.56 crore beneficiaries in the state. All the free-bees will be distributed through the the respective Public Distribution System (PDS) outlets. The CM marked the launch of the scheme by distributing dhotis & sarees to the five families at the TN secretariat.

- Free dhoti`s for men
Eligibility:
- Applicable only in Tamil Nadu
- Only poor & under-privileged families in the state are eligible
The scheme will benefit weavers in the state as well as the government procures the sarees & dhotis from the state wavers only. The scheme supports weavers immensely. The scheme will cost Rs. 484.25 crores to the state. The scheme was first launched in 1983 by the then CM MG Ramachandran.
Priceless Saree & Dhoti Distribution Scheme 2019: Registration, Application Form & How to Apply?
Applications & registrations are not required for the scheme. The beneficiaries are identified based on the poverty index. The eligible beneficiaries will be given free gifts through their nearest Public Distribution System outlets.
