In the recent fiscal year budget 2017-18, the State Government of Kerala has announced to continue rubber production incentive for small-scale farmers in Kerala. Under this scheme, if the wholesale rubber prices fall below Rs 150 per kg then the government will pay the balance to the farmers through direct bank transfer. For this scheme, the government has allocated Rs. 500 Crore in this particular year. Kerala is known for 90% natural rubber producer in the country and 50 percent farmers are small-scale rubber producer. This crop was brought to India during the reign of British. Most of the hilly regions in Kerala grow rubber especially north Kerala region is concentrating on the rubber plantation. It has become the main source of income for many small-scale farmers in Kerala. Now coconut plantations have been almost replaced by rubber plantations as it gives daily income to the planters. This scheme helps small-scale farmers who have rubber plantation in up to 5 acres
Benefits of Rubber Price Stabilization Scheme for Farmers in Kerala:

Eligibility for Rubber Price Stabilization Scheme for Farmers in Kerala:
- Applicant should be resident of Kerala state
- Small-scale farmers who have rubber plantation in up to 5 acres are eligible for this scheme
Documents required for Rubber Price Stabilization Scheme for Farmers in Kerala:
- Identity card such as Aadhaar card
- Passport size photos
- Date of birth proof
- Bank account details/passbook copy
- Land Tax Receipts for all holdings
