Chhattisgarh Government has issued notification for Short-term Farmer Loan Waiver Scheme 2018. The notification is directed to the cooperative banks in the state to waive-off short term loans of the farmers across the state. Crop loans till 30th November 2018 are waived off under the scheme. The state government will pay beneficiary farmer`s loans via linking or cash.

- Small, big & marginal farmers
- Self-help ground (SHGs)
- Group of farmers
Farmer loan waiver was the poll promise of the Congress Party. The party chief Rahul Gandhi announced in his rallies that if his party is voted into the power. Farm loans will be waived off. As soon as the newly appointed Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took oath he announced the crop loan waiver.
The government has given the responsibility of verifying authenticity of the farmers for loan waivers. The loan waiver will cost Rs. 6,100 crores to the state government. 16.65 lakh farmers in the Chhattisgarh will get benefited from the scheme. Their farm loans will be waived off & government will repay their loans. All the state government & center government are under the pressure due to the agrarian crises & distress in the farmers. The short-term farm loans will provide immediate relief to the farmers & will remove the burden from the farmers.
