Tamil Nadu Government has launched Special Financial Assistance Scheme for the BPL families in the state. All the beneficiary families will be given special financial assistance of Rs. 2,000 each. The money will be directly deposited into their bank accounts. All the BPL families who suffered due to Cyclone Gaja, drought & monsoon failures will be given the assistance.

TN CM Edappadi K Palaniswami started the implementation of the scheme. He issued orders to credit the money to the 32 families to mark the launch of the scheme. 35 lakh families in the rural areas & 25 lakh families in the urban areas will get benefited from the scheme. The scheme will cost Rs. 1,200 crores to the state government.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicable in Tamil Nadu
- Applicable only to the BPL families
- Applicable only for those who were affected by cyclone, drought & monsoon failure
Urban poor, agricultural laborers, workers in the power-loom and hand-loom sectors, tree climbers, workers in salt pans, cracker workers, workers engaged in fishing, workers engaged in production of footwear & leather goods, sanitary workers, pottery workers & workers employed in many other sectors will be given the assistance.

The financial assistance will provide a bit of the relief for the affected families. Government has already helped the cyclone affected workers in getting back their lives to normal.
