Government of India has launched a scheme for apple growers and aggregators in Kashmir. The name of new scheme is Special Market Intervention Price (MIPS). Under the scheme government of India will purchase apples directly from apple growers at their door step. Government will purchase 12 lakh metric tonnes of apples at rate which is profitable to farmers.

Highlights:
- Government of India to buy 60% of apple direct from apple growers and aggregators
- Apple growers and aggregators in Kashmir will get extra profit of Rs. 2000 crores with the new scheme
- Government agencies will take care of collecting, transportation procurement of the apples
- Apples procurement will start in September 2019 and will end in April 2020
- Government has allocated budget of Rs. 8000 crores for the scheme
- The procurement of the apples will be the for 6 months
- Department of agriculture & National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) will be implementing the scheme
- District administration is asked to identify beneficiaries of the scheme
- The district administrations will enroll all the beneficiaries & also collect bank their bank account details so that the payment can be made
