Jammu and Kashmir is one of the most important State of India. During the summer 2010 massive anti India agitation, an expert group was constituted on the directions of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. This expert group was constituted to look into enhancing the employment opportunities in Jammu & Kashmir. In addition to it this group was asked to formulate job plans by involving public and private sector. The Expert Group headed by C Rangaranjan, the former Governor of Reserve Bank of India, suggested providing 5000 educational scholarships to the students of Jammu & Kashmir each for a minimum period of five years which would enable the students from J&K to undertake career based education outside the state after passing class XII exam. So, Government of India through its Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) provides tuition fees, boarding and lodging fees (hostel) to the students who enrol themselves in various professional and technical colleges across India which are recognized by the Government of India. In addition to this books are also provided to the students at the cost of Government.
