Government of Maharashtra has launched Swadhar Yojana (SY) for Scheduled Caste and Nav Bhuddha students in the state. The scheme is meant for the students from the SC and NB communities who has not get any government hostel accommodation in-spite of being eligible for the same. The students from the SC and NB castes studying in 10th, 11th, 12th class along with diploma and degree courses are eligible under the scheme. They will be given financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 every year for lodging, boarding facilities and other expenses. The objective of the scheme is to help SC, NB students to continue their studies and to empower both the communities.

Swadhar Yojana (SY): Benefits
- Financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 every year
- Boarding allowance: Rs. 28,000 per year
- Lodging Facilities: Rs. 15,000 per year
- Miscellaneous Expenses allowance: Rs. 8,000 per year
- Students of Engineering and Medical: Additional assistance of Rs. 5,000 per year
- Students on non-professional degree courses: Additional assistance of Rs. 2,000 per year
Swadhar Yojana (SY): Eligibility
- Applicable in Maharashtra only
- Students from SC and NB categories only are eligible
- Students studying in 10th, 11th, 12th class along with diploma and degree courses are eligible
- Family income should not be more then 2.5 lakhs
- Students must have got minimum 40% marks in the last examination
- For disabled students from the community 40% marks criteria is not applicable
