On the occasion of silver jubilee of Independence Central Government launched the pension scheme for our freedom fighters and their dependents in case the freedom fighter is no more. Under the scheme whoever eligible and contributed to freedom fighting is given pension.
Benefits of Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme:
- Support to prevent collapsing economic condition: Many families of freedom fighters are in severe poverty, by this pension they will have little bit strength to survive.
Eligibility for Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme:
- Dependents of Martyrs
- Imprisonment of minimum 6 months for men and 3 months for SC/ST women freedom fighters
- A person who was underground at that time for
- Being an offender
- One on whom an award for arrest was announced
- One for whose detention, orders were out but never served
- Loss of property, person who lost his property during the fight is also eligible for the pension
- Permanent disability: Person who got disable permanently for being participating in freedom struggle
- Punishment winner: Person who was awarded punishment for participating in the freedom fighting is also eligible for the pension scheme
Procedure of the scheme:
- The person who finds himself eligible for the pension can avail the scheme by filling the application form in the prescribed format
- Once the form is ready the required documents should be attached and the form has to be submitted to State/Union Government
- After close evaluation the pension application is sanctioned
Documents Required:
Usually documents required are elaborated by the government itself at time of applying based on the type of contribution, still these are some must documents mentioned below
- Birth/Death Certificate
- Recommendations from dignified person about the incident in past
- Enough documents to proof that the applicant was a part of the incident mentioned (pamphlet of award money, jail documents, printing press proofs, etc)
