To make available water and land for irrigation across the state

The much awaited ‘Tapti Mega Recharge Scheme’ is an ambitious irrigation project of Madhya Pradesh state which is planned for benefiting the farmers. The details of this scheme were provided by former cabinet minister and BJP party leader Smt. Archana Chitnis. Under this, about 70 to 80 rivers and streams of Madhya Pradesh as well as neighboring Maharashtra state will be recharged and thereby about thousands of hectares of land in both the states will be irrigated. This scheme is world’s cheapest irrigation project. After successful implementation of the scheme about 20,000 million cubic feet water will be made available for irrigation and drinking. Through this the cyclone like situations in the state will be avoided as well as mercury level of the area will never reach 47 degrees Celsius. Smt. Chitnis also urged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to provide instructions regarding implementation of the scheme to the concerned officers. The total cost of implementation of this scheme is around Rs. 10,000 crores.
