The chief minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das has launched UJALA Scheme for distributing LED tube light & energy efficient fans for people in Jharkhand. UJALA stand for “Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All’ (UJALA) and under this scheme, the government has distributed LED tube lights and energy efficient fans in the state. The decision makes after distributing a total no. of about 85 Lakh LED bulbs in the state. In the Jharkhand state, 30 lakh households out of 68 lakh do not have electricity in the state. In the last two years, the government provided electricity to the seven lakh households. The government has aims to provide electricity to the rest 23 lakh households in Jharkhand by March 2019. This scheme implemented in the state by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). In this scheme, EESL plans to distribute more than 25 lakh LED tube lights and one lakh energy efficient fans to people on upfront payment with a three-year replacement warranty. UJALA scheme aims to promote efficient use of energy at the residential level, enhance the awareness of consumers about the efficacy of using energy efficient appliances and aggregating demand to reduce the high initial costs thus facilitating higher uptake of LED lights by residential users

- All citizen of Jharkhand state is eligible for this UJALA Scheme

- Copy of latest electricity bill

- The replacement also available in this distribution counter in the state
- Applicant can visit Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) in the state
