Prime Minister Narendra Modi government is planning to extend the Ujjawala Yojana to provide cooking gas connection to the poor households. The new scheme is called as Ujjawala Plus, under the scheme you can donate a gas connection and get tax benefits. The scheme as announced by the Prime Minister himself on the Independence Day in his speech from Red Fort.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY) was a huge success with a mission of providing Clean Fuel for Better Life for all women below poverty line. So far 1.5 crore Ujjawala gas connections are given to the poor and rural households and made them smoke free.
Prime Minister`s appeal Give It Up campaign also played a huge rule in the success of the Ujjwala Yojana. During Give It Up campaign millions surrendered their LPG connection subsidy. The Ujjawala Plus is infact based on the success of the Give It Up campaign. Government is planning to role out Ujjawala Plus scheme before Diwali 2017 said the Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Highlights of the Ujjawala Plus Yojana:
- Ujjawala Plus scheme will allow people of India to donate a gas connection to the poor households
- Oil Ministry of India will be launching a non-profit organization and the donors can pay the cost of the Ujjawala LPG connection to this non-profit
- Each connection will cost Rs. 1600
- All the donors will be get tax relief under section 80G of tax norms
