Upgradation of Merit of Scheduled Caste Students

The SC students, because of their educational deficiencies, are unable to take advantage of the various schemes, which have become available through reservation of seats. Consequently, the quota reserved for them in technical and professional courses like Engineering and Medical, remain under-utilized. Some students, who are able to get admission in these courses with relaxed eligibility conditions, often find it difficult to either complete the course or take more than the specified time for completion of the instructional programme. The Scheme of Upgradation of Merit of SC students provides for 100% Central Assistance to States/UTs for arranging remedial and special coaching for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students studying in class 10^th  to 12^th .

Benefits of Upgradation of Merit of Scheduled Caste Students:

• The Scheme provides for 100% central assistance to the States/UT’s. A package grant of Rs.25,000/- per student per year is provided and the States/UT’s are not required to bear any financial burden
• The students with disabilities amongst SCs, receive specified special allowances like readers allowance, transport allowance, escorts allowance etc.
• A package grant of Rs.25,000 per student per year with the following break-up

1. Boarding & lodging charges of Rs. 900/- per month for 10 months
2. Pocket money of 300 for 10 months
3. Books and Stationery Rs.3,000 per annum

• 10,000 per year per student for payment to Principal, Experts and other incidental charges

Required eligibility and conditions for Upgradation of Merit of Scheduled Caste Students:

1. Students whose parents/guardian income is below Rs. 3.0 lakh (300000) is eligible for availing benefits
2. All children of same parent/guardian are eligible for scholarship
3. Scheduled caste candidates who have passed the matriculation or higher secondary or any higher examination of a recognized university or board of secondary education are eligible
4. The applicant should avail any other scholarship or stipend
5. Employed candidates are eligible but students should be on leave without pay for the entire duration of a full time course
6. Students studying through correspondence courses are eligible
7. Preference should be given to Girls Students and Handicapped Students

Application procedure for Upgradation of Merit of Scheduled Caste Students:

1. Parents/guardians income certificate below Rs. 3.0 lakh
2. Caste validity
3. Caste certificate
4. Identity proof e.g. Aadhar card
5. Residence proof e.g. Ration card, Aadhar card
6. Previous years pass mark sheets
7. Bank details, account holder name, account number, IFSC code, MICR code
8. Passport size photograph

Application procedure:

2. Click for registration fill required information
3. ID and Password will be generated
4. The make a login by enter ID and Password will be generated
5. Application form will open fill the required information along with upload photograph
6. Take a print out of that application form and submit it to college with documents
