On March 2, 2021, the Delhi state cabinet headed by CMO Delhi, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal approved various Child Welfare schemes and thereby allocated funds required for the schemes. These schemes are for the benefit of SC, ST, OBC children, girl students, children with disabilities and others in the state. It aims at empowering the children and thereby shaping their future in a brighter way. Total budget for approved child welfare schemes is Rs. 185 crores.

Objectives and Benefits:

  • The main objective of the child welfare schemes is empowering children in different stratas
  • In the current situations, some financially backward class children and their families are facing financial difficulties and are not able to access education, thus it is an important step for students wherein scholarships will be provided to SC/ ST/ OBC students
  • Under ‘Ladli’ scheme girl students will b encouraged to go to school thereby empowering them
  • Budget is allocated to buy almirahs for libraries in government schools so that children will be able to get and read the books of their choice
  • These welfare schemes will ensure that proper education, required services, aids, support, etc is provided to the children in the state

  • On March 2, 2021 the Delhi state cabinet headed by CM Arvind Kejriwal, approved and released funds for various schemes for the welfare of SC, ST, OBC children, girl students, children with disabilities and others in the state
  • These schemes are allocated funds for providing required assistance for the benefit and development of children in the state
  • The total worth of these schemes is Rs. 185 crores
  • About Rs. 76 crores of the total worth is approved for providing scholarships to class 1-12 students belonging t SC/ ST/ OBC communities
  • About Rs.100 crores of the total worth is approved for ‘Ladli scheme’ launched in 2008 for promoting education and proper schooling to girl students thereby empowering them and making them financially sound
  • Talent Promotion scheme for children with disabilities is approved with Rs. 2 crores of the total worth
  • The branch of Directorate of Education will be provided with these funds to enable the government schools to have all the required support and services for the talent development of the children with disabilities
  • Directorate of Education will also be provided with Rs. 7.2 crores to get 4,178 steel almirahs for providing and reserving valued books in primary class libraries in the government schools in Delhi
  • These welfare schemes aim at benefiting the children in the state thereby empowering them for a brighter future
