To increase the use Information Technology in the existing education system for a long term thereby benefiting the students

On June 4, 2021, Ladakh government newly started ‘YounTab Scheme’ for students studying in government schools across the state. The launch of this scheme was announced virtually by Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur. Governor distributed 12,300 educational tablets to students virtually thereby marking the start of the scheme. The tablets are distributed to students from class 6th to 12th and are pre-loaded with all the online and offline content including textbooks, video lectures and online class applications. This scheme is launched to increase the use of technology in the existing education system. It is implemented by the Department of School Education with the technical support from the Information Technology (IT) Department.

  • Students clearing Prelims of civil services exams, IES and IFS exams will be given a financial assistance of Rs. 1.54 lakhs
  • Gram Panchayats will be given a financial assistance of Rs. 25 lakhs for conducting community classes for primary school students
  • LG praised the department of education for achieving 100% teacher’s training
  • He also stated that efforts are being made for improving the quality of education, enrolling 100% enrollment and zero dropouts in schools across the state
