The Telangana Government has launched Aasara Pension Scheme in the state. The state government provide pension to the senior citizens, widows, handicapped, weavers, toddy peppers in the state every month. The objective of the scheme is financially support vulnerable sections of the society and also to make sure that their minimum needs are taken care of and they live dignified life. The Telangana Chief Minister Shri K Chandrasekhar Rao doubled the pension amount for the Aasara Pension Scheme from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,016 and Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,016.
What is Aasara Pension Scheme? A pension scheme by the Telangana Government for the senior citizens, widows, handicapped, weavers, toddy peppers in the state.
Aasara Pension Scheme Objectives:
- To financially support vulnerable sections of the society
- To make sure they have dignified life and to make sure they are not dependent on others
Aasara Pension Scheme Benefits: Monthly pension is provided to the following beneficiaries under the scheme:
- Old Aged / Senior Citizens: Rs. 2,016 per month
- People suffering with HIV-AIDS: Rs. 2,016 per month
- Widows: Rs. 2,016 per month
- Incapacitated weavers: Rs. 2,016 per month
- Toddy Peppers: Rs. 2,016 per month
- Disabled: Rs. 3,016 per month
Aasara Pension Scheme Eligibility:
- The scheme is applicable only to the permanent residents of Telangana only
- Senior citizens with more than 65 years of age are eligible
- Old aged who are agriculture laborers without land, rural artisans/craftsmen slum dwellers, persons earning their livelihood on daily basis in the informal sector like porters, coolies, rickshaw pullers, handcart pullers, fruit / flower sellers, snake charmers, rag pickers, cobblers, destitute are eligible
- Old aged who are homeless, houseless households living in temporary informal establishments or huts in urban areas are also eligible
- Widows with more than 18 years of age are eligible
- Families headed by widows, terminally ill, disabled are eligible too
- Toddy tappers, weavers who`s age is more than 50 years can apply
- Handicapped with more than 40% disability are eligible to get pension

- Application forms for the Aasara Pension Scheme are available at MeeSeva Centres, Gram Panchayats, Municipal Corporations etc
- Applicants needs to fill in the application form, attached documents and submit the duly filled application form in the offices mentioned above
- The application will then be scrutinized and verified
- Once the application is approved the pension will be credited to the savings bank account between 1st to 7th of every month
