The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) started Aashvaasan scheme for the covid affected staff members of CBIC. Under this scheme medical as well as financial aid will be provided to the covid affected staff members. This scheme will tend to provide the required assistance to the staff members in this crucial period of prevalent second wave of the covid pandemic. Apart from financial aid, transport as essential supplies will also be covered under this scheme. A special covid response team will be set up for smooth functioning of these processes. In case of death of any staff member who was the only earning member of the family, applications will be collected from the family members for employment on compassionate grounds.

- Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) recently announced Aashvaasan scheme for all its staff members as well as officials
- This scheme is launched in view of the impact of the prevalent second wave of the pandemic
- Under this scheme financial and medical aid as required will be provided to the covid affected members of CBIC
- Apart from financial aid, transport as essential supplies will also be provided to the beneficiaries under this scheme

- CBIC will appoint a new covid response team for handling all the processing under this scheme
- Currently as per the regulations a CBIC is functioning with a limited staff and the staff is working round the clock for proper compliance relief, tax clearance refunds, etc
- In this second wave of pandemic, around 119 members of CBIC have lost their lives
- Keeping this impact on manpower, CBIC planned this scheme for providing assistance as required to the members and their families
