Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship for Indian Students

The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from select developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies, in order to develop effective scholars and leaders and to prepare them for employment, primarily within the AKDN. The Foundation gives priority to requests for Master’s level courses but is willing to consider applications for PhD programmes, only in the case of outstanding students who are highly recommended for doctoral studies by their professors and who need a PhD for the fulfilment of their career objectives. The Foundation accepts applications from nationals of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique.

Benefits of the Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship:

  • The selected candidates of Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship would be given grant as follows
  • Aga Khan Scholarship would be given as 50% in form of a Grant and 50% in form of a Loan
  • The complete tuition fee for the Master’s programme is covered by the scholarship
  • The students will also receive the living and accommodation expenses under the AKF scholarship
  • All the expenses related to travel to the institution and back to home country will be borne by the applicants itself. The foundation will not reimburse this amount

Required Eligibility and Conditions for Applying Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship:

  1. The candidates who are eligible nationals from the above mentioned countries can apply for the scholarship
  2. Candidates applying for studies in the UK, USA , Canada, Portugal and France will be accepted if they are interested in development-related studies and cannot finance their education
  3. The Students who cannot finance their own education will be eligible for the scholarship.
  4. The candidates who are below 30 years of age are given preference
  5. Candidate may be expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest
  6. Applications for short-term courses are not considered for the scholarship programme
  7. Students who have already started their course of study are not eligible to apply for Aga Khan Scholarship programme

  1. Bio Page of Passport
  2. Passport size Photo
  3. Income Certificate
  4. TOFEL score card
  5. GRE score card
  6. degree certificate/provisional Ph.D. certificate
  7. Past academic record

Application Procedure:

  1. The candidates who are interested and eligible can get the application forms of Aga Khan Scholarship from the AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards present in their respective countries
  2. Students applying from India have to obtain the Aga Khan Scholarship application form from the addresses given in Contact Details Section of this page
  3. The candidates can submit the duly completely filled application forms at the office from which the candidate has obtained the form
