Agriculture Entrepreneurship Promotion Scheme 2018: Odisha to train 1000 Agriculture Entrepreneurs

The Odisha Government launched Agriculture Entrepreneurship Promotion Scheme 2018 to help Agriculture Entrepreneurs across rural areas in the state. The Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik launched the scheme during Make in Odisha Conclave 2018. The primary objective of the scheme is to grow rural economy and create self-employment and jobs in the rural Odisha. The scheme will be implemented over the period of next 3 years. Rural entrepreneurs will be trained under the scheme. 1000 such entrepreneurs will be identified who will receive the benefits of the scheme.

Who can apply to be Agriculture Entrepreneur?

  • A resident of Odisha
  • Applicant must be in the age group of 18 to 45 years
  • Preference will be given to women
  • Applicant must have 1 acre of land with 2000 sq ft constructed area

Agriculture Entrepreneurship Promotion Scheme 2018 Highlights

  • Each of the agricultural entrepreneurs will work with 150 farmers in nearby 2-3 farmers
  • They will provide quality inputs and technology based agricultural services to the farmers
  • Goal is to make sure small and medium farmers earn at least 2-6 lakh per year
  • Agriculture Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha (APICOL) to implement the scheme
  • They will setup monitoring using for the scheme to design, plan, implement the scheme
  • Odisha Organic Farming Policy is also announced to boost organic farming
  • Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department and NABARD has signed an MOU for farmer production organization capacity building
  • Another MOU is signed with Indian Institute of Millets Research and also with National Seed Corporation for seeds production in State
