The government of India will be launching a new healthcare scheme called as Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM). This is the most-awaited & the flagship scheme of the PM Narendra Modi led government. Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) will be called a Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). The PM has announced on the Independence Day that this scheme will be rolled out on 25th September this year on the birth of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.
The scheme will provide a health insurance of Rs 5 lakh per family per year to more than 50 crores peoples of 10 crores households. The poor & vulnerable people will be getting a good quality of health care services for the serious ailments & also receive free health facilities in big hospitals.
The technology testing for the scheme will be started in four to five weeks that stores information about the beneficiary households, the empanelled hospitals & services they offer & a transaction management system. In 2 & 3 tier cities, many hospitals will be built for generating employment opportunities. The government has sanctioned Rs 10,000 crores for this scheme which is claimed to be the worlds largest government-funded healthcare insurance scheme.
Under the scheme, 1,50,000 health & wellness centres will be established across the country for providing the free outpatient consultations & medicines. This scheme will be implemented by the Union Health Ministry & the state governments. There are 28 states & union territories are ready to roll out this scheme while 8 states & union territories are not yet joined.
