Chhattisgarh government started Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Promotion Scheme on June 6, 2021. This launch was announced by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel virtually. This scheme is mainly launched aiming to protect the environment and increase income of farmers. It also tends to increase the income of panchayats and forest committees. Under the scheme forest department intends to plant about 99 lakh saplings in the state in this year. About 2.27 crore saplings will also be distributed to the residents of the state under this scheme. Incentives will be provided to the farmers for taking up plantation with or without commercial help in the upcoming paddy season.

- In such case of commercial plantation, after one year of successful plantation an incentive of Rs. 10,000 per acre will be given to the panchayats/ forest committees as concerned
- This scheme will thereby help to increase the revenue of the farmers/ panchayats/ forest committees
- Rules regarding the felling of trees will be eased by the government under this scheme
- Thereby the right to cut and sell trees on the land owned will be given to the concerned party
- It will aim at creating a balance by planting more trees thereby leading to environment protection.
