Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana or DDU-GKY is launched by the government of India. The scheme was launched on 25 September 2014 by Union Ministers Shree Nitin Gadkari and Shree Venkaiah Naidu on the occasion of the 98th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. It is a skill development and placement initiative scheme. The goal of the scheme is to provide vocational skills to the youth of rural areas between the ages of 15 to 35 years, make them employable and to create employment opportunities for them. DDU-GKY focuses on the rural youth below poverty lines and provides them jobs with monthly wages. It is one of the cluster initiatives of the Ministry of Rural Development and it is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
The DDU-GKY emphasizes on:
- creating awareness about the employable skills & opportunities
- mobilization rural youth
- counseling of youth, their parents, and BPL communities
- selection based on the aptitude
- imparting knowledge
- create industry linked skills in them & enhance employability
- provide job opportunities above minimum wages
- The skill training programs covering over 250 trades sectors such as Retail, Hospitality, Health, Construction, Automotive, Leather, Electrical, Plumbing, Gems, and Jewelry etc. The scheme also invites employers to get involved and train youth based on their requirements and then employ them. Training providers too can partner with the government for the initiative

Eligibility of Deen Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana:
- A person belongs to rural area
- A person must be between age 15 to 35
- A person belongs to SC, ST, Women, PCTG/PWD must be up to 45 years
Document required for Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana:
- Proof of identity such as Aadhaar Card, Election ID Card
- Certification of birth
- Proof eligibility like BPL Card, MGNREGA worker card
- Certificate of caste
