The Chief Minister of Bihar Shree Nitish Kumar has announced a scholarship for meritorious students in Bihar. Desh Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Chatravriti is named after the first president of India Dr Rajendra Prasad. The scholarship will be given to the meritorious students studying in schools in the Bihar. The CM annouced various initiatives along with the Desh Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha scholarship on the occasion of Medha Diwas functions.
Medha Diwas is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr Rajendra Prasad. He was a lawyer by profession and meritorious student from Bihar who went on to become first President of India. CM felicitated 44 topper students with cash price, laptops and e-book readers on the occasion.
The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reiterated the importance of eduction in the development of the state and all the initiative government has implemented in the education sector. Some of the key initiatives are:
- Bicycles for school girls
- Cash awards along with laptops, e-book readers for toppers from tenth class exams
- Cash awards along with laptops, e-book readers for toppers from twelve class exams
- Various scholarships
Every year government of Bihar facilitates toppers in Bihar in 10th and 12th with cash prices of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 75 thousand and Rs. 50,000 along with gadgets. Government is yet to announce more details of the scholarship.
