Even after 69 years of achieving freedom and in spite of various educational schemes launched by government to improve the level of education, higher education especially overseas higher education is still an illusion for Economically Backward Class (EBC) of our country. The government, both central and state has floated various scholarship schemes from time to time to uplift the financially weaker section of the society but the benefits of these schemes have not reach down to the last man on the socio-economic ladder. To address this problem adequately and to bring this less fortunate people into mainstream of economy Central Government has launched Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for the Economically Backward Class Students. This schemes exclusively overcome to the needs of Economically Backward Class. These scholarships shall be available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the Government of State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs.
Benefits of Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for the Economically Backward Class Students:
- Maintenance allowance: Rs 250/- to Rs 750/- per month for hostellers and Rs 160 to RS 350/- per month for day scholars
- Fees: Scholars will be paid enrolment/registration, tuition, games, union, library, magazine, medical examination and such other fees compulsorily payable by the scholar to the institution or University/Board
- Study Tour: Study tour charges up to a maximum of Rs. 900/- per annum
- Thesis Typing /Printing charges: Thesis typing/printing charges up to a maximum of Rs. 1000/- will be paid to research scholars on the recommendation of the Head of the Institution
- Book Allowance: For students pursuing correspondence course, for complete duration of the course
- Reader Charges for Blind Students:90 to Rs. 175 per month
Required Eligibility and Conditions for Applying Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for the Economically Backward Class Students:
- The scholarships will be open to Indian nationals belonging to General Category
- Income certificate should be submitted from the competent authority in the State/Union Territory shall not exceed Rs.1.00 lakh per annum
- These scholarships will be given for the study of all recognized post-matriculation or postsecondary courses pursued in recognized institutions
- Students pursuing Post-graduate courses in medicine will be eligible if they are not allowed to practice during the period of their course.
Document required for applying Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for the Economically Backward Class Students:
- Self – attested passport size photograph with signature
- Date of Birth Certificate
- Original Income Certificate
- Previous Class Marks sheet
- Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC)
- Xerox Copy of Ration Card.
- One copy of the application for scholarship in the prescribed form
- A receipt in acknowledgement of the scholarship in the previous year
Application Procedure:
- Application complete in all aspects with all documents shall submitted to the Head of institution being attended or last attended by the candidate
