On October 1, 2021 Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0. This second phase of these two flagship schemes were launched at an event at Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 central government aims at making the cities across the country garbage free. The garbage in the cities will be processed and removed in this second phase of the mission. Under the AMRUT 2.0 central government aims at ensuring water supply to each and every household in the urban areas. These two flagship schemes are mainly launched for urban development in the country. These ambitious central sector schemes will ensure making the cities garbage free and provision of safe drinking water for all the citizens.
