Free 2GB Data Per Day, Tamil Nadu

On January 10, 2021, Tamil Nadu government came up with a new initiative to provide ‘Free 2GB data per day’ to the students for studying through online classes uninterruptedly. CM Edapaddi K Palaniswami announced the details. This initiative will run from the month of January 2021 to April 2021. This will help the students to study online and attend the online classes in the current situations of pandemic. This initiative tends to benefit about 9 lakh students in the state. This facility is made available to the students in government, government aided arts, science, polytechnic and engineering colleges along with students receiving scholarships in private colleges.

• In the current situations, some children and their families are facing financial difficulties and are not able to access online education, thus it is an important step for students thereby avoiding any loss of study

• It will enable the students to attend classes online from their own places instead of travelling to and from colleges daily
• In the current pandemic situations, many students are preferring to study online and this scheme will help them to do the same without any disruption or interruption
