The Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka will be facing election very soon and more freebies are on cards for BPL in the state. The state government will be very soon launching a new scheme called Indira Vasthra Bhagya under which a pair of cloths will be distributed annually to the Below Powerty Lines families.
The Dhoti, Saree Bhagya scheme is proposed by the Textile Minister Rudrappa Lamani and will be making presentation to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the pre-budget meeting. The minister is hopeful that he will be able to convince the CM and launch the scheme.
Indira Vasthra Bhagya benefits:
- a pair of dhoti and shirt piece will be given to the BPL men in the state annually
- a paid of saree and blouse piece will be given to the BPL women annually
CM Siddaramaiah is planning to en-cash the popularity of the former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi in the forth coming elections and has already launched a couple of schemes by her name such as:
- Indira Canteen scheme: to provide nutritious meal to the poor
- Indira Sarige: a scheme to provide subsidized commute in the BMTC buses will be launched soon
Most probably the scheme will be approved and announced in the coming budget session on February 16th. The Indira Vasthra Bhagya scheme will cost Rs. 550 crores annually. Apart from the BPL families the scheme will benefit weavers too as the sarees and dhotis distributed under the scheme will be procured from them.
