The Odisha Government has announced a financial assistance scheme for the farmers in the state called Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) Scheme. The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik has made an announcement. The agrarian crises are growing across the country & most of the state government has launched Farm Loan Waivers Scheme to provide crop loan waivers to all the farmers. The KALIA Scheme is considered to be more efficient scheme than the loan waivers as the financial assistance is provided before each of the sowing seasons.
The KALIA Scheme will cost Rs. 10,800 crores to the state government. The scheme is expected to provide much required relief to the farmers. The financial burden will be removed from the farmers. The KALIA scheme is the more efficient than farm loan waiver & will have direct impact on the poverty in the state according to the CM. KALIA scheme will cover 92% of the state farmers.

KALIA Scheme Odisha: How to check your name in beneficiary list?
30 lakh Odisha farmers to benefit from the KALIA scheme.
There are 32 lakh cultivators in the state. 20 lakh out of them has usually takes farm loans. 60% of the farmers who take loans repay them.
Financial assistance can be used for preparation for cultivation.
Beneficiary farmers can use the it for land preparation for cultivation, purchasing seeds, fertilizers, pesticides & also to pay labor charges. State government has alloted Rs. 3,016 crores for the purpose.
Financial assistance for the landless households to purchase cattle.
Financial assistance of upto Rs. 12,500 for landless households will be given. It can be used to start small units such as goat rearing units, mini poultry layer units, duckery units, fishery kits for fishermen and women, mushroom cultivation & bee keeping.
