On May 5, 2021 Haryana government has announced a medical assistance scheme for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the details virtually. This initiative is mainly started for helping the BPL card holders and their families amidst the prevalent second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. Under this initiative financial assistance will be provided to the people belonging to BPL category taking treatment in private hospitals. The state government will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 5000/- per patient per day to a maximum of 7 days. Maximum amount limit is kept Rs. 35,000/- This initiative is taken for the assisting the financially weaker section in the state thereby ensuring their welfare.

Objectives and Benefits:
- The main objective of the scheme is to help the poor, below poverty line residents in the state
- This scheme will provide a financial help of Rs. 5000 per day per patient up to 7 days (Rs. 35000) to each BPL card holder for treatment in private hospital amidst covid-19 pandemic
- Lumpsum of Rs. 5000 will be provided to the covid positive patients form the BPL families who are under home isolation and incur expenses on medicines
- Under this scheme the said amount of money will be borne by the state government and will be paid directly to the private hospitals
- This scheme will provide a proper life coverage to the beneficiaries
- This scheme will enable to maintain a balance of life and health of the poor people across the state

- Under this scheme Covid registered hospitals will be paid an incentive of Rs. 1000 per patient per day subject to a maximum of Rs. 7000/-
- These efforts will help the Below Poverty Line families as well as all the patients in the state
- CM also provided details regarding availability of hospital beds, oxygen support, vaccination etc
- These efforts are made by the state government to cope with the prevalent tough situations
- Through this initiative medical assistance of the said amount will be provided to the BPL card holders and their families which will turn out to be a boon to them in these crucial times
