Gujarat government has launched a new scheme for the benefit of the farmers across the state. CMO Gujarat, Mr. Vijay Rupani, announced the scheme named Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana. Under this scheme a financial aid is provided to the farmers who are suffering from Kharif season, facing loses due to inadequate or heavy rainfall and drought conditions. It is a crop insurance scheme with zero premium to the farmers to help them recover from the losses incurred by them.

Scheme Objectives:
- The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial aid to the farmers to recover from the loss incurred by them due to the excessive climate change
- It aims to cover all the farmers across the state. Even Tribal farmers are eligible for the benefits
- The scheme aims to provide a cover of protection to the farmers against all the excessive climate changes, natural calamities and unprecedented events.
- Around 56 lakh farmers across the state are aimed to be benefited under this scheme.
Scheme Benefits:
- The major benefit of the scheme is the financial assistance in case of loss
- Zero premium is another benefit under this scheme. Farmers are not required to pay any premium unlike other schemes
- Under this scheme, the tribal farmers are also eligible for the benefits
- The farmers will be given financial assistance as per the loss, per hectare
- This scheme enables the overall agricultural development
Features of the scheme:
- Under this scheme, the farmers get financial aid as per the loss incurred. Assistance id provided if the damage is more than 33%
- A compensation of Rs. 20,000 is provided for 4 hectares of farm land
- If the damage is more than 60% then the assistance provided to the farmers will be Rs. 25,000 per hectare
- In case of loss, compensation is provided for maximum 4 hectares of farm land owned by the beneficiary farmer
- In Monsoon season in case of loss due to no rainfall for 28 days or heavy rainfall for 48 hours, compensation will be provided by the government
- No premium is to be paid by the farmers under this scheme to avail the benefits of insurance
Eligibility:
- This scheme is applicable only to the farmers who are residents of Gujarat state
- Registered farmers, having holder farmer account under Forest Right Act will be eligible under the scheme

Application Process:
- Currently, until the dedicated portal is implemented, the application procedure is conducted Offline.
- The applicants should visit the nearest e-gram centre with the necessary documents and details of total loss incurred
- The applicant should get the documents verified by the concerned department
- After verification, the application will be approved and the money will be transferred to the beneficiary bank account

- This scheme replaced the existing Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima yojana for this year.
