Nabakrushna Choudhury Secha Unnayan Yojana (NCSUY) along with 10 other initiatives launched in Odisha

The Odisha cabinet approved various welfare initiatives in the state after the cabinet meeting. Nabakrushna Choudhury Secha Unnayan Yojana (NCSUY) a irrigation scheme is launched for farmers. The scheme is named after renowned freedom fighter and former CM Nabakrushna Choudhury. Total budget of Rs. 635 crore is provided for the scheme.

Highlights of the new initiatives announced by the Govt. of Odisha:

  • Value Added Tax (VAT) is reduced by 5% for domestic and commercial LGP connections
  • Earlier it was 15%. A new budget of Rs. 3,843 is provided for the construction of 473 33/11 KV substations across the state with associated 33 KV and 11 KV lines
  • The government is planning to take help from the World Bank on systematic improvement in teaching and learning in educational institutes
  • Odisha Higher Education Project on Excellence and Equity (OHEPEE) under Higher Education Department to provide better access to education to the students from the underprivileged sections
  • Compensation of Rs. 4 lakh will be given to the victims of animal attack
  • Odisha Recruitment Rule (ORR) is improved to provide 40% of the promotions for experienced Revenue Field Staff (Revenue Inspector/ Revenue Supervisor) in the cadre
  • The experience criteria is changed from 10 years to 5 years for promotions
