The Andhra Pradesh cabinet approved various development scheme for transgenders in the scheme. Under the pension scheme the state government will provide a monthly pension of Rs. 1,500 for transgenders above 18 years in the state.
Information and Public Relations (I-PR) Minister Kaluva Srinivasulu and Municipal Administration minister P Narayana announced the decision after the AP cabinet meet chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
26 thousands transgenders in AP to get benefited by the transgenders development schemes.
The governments received various problems of issues from the transgender communities. The government is planning to come up with a policy for transgenders and planning to put it online for reviews and comments from the various sections of the society. Under the transgenders policy government will provide following benefits for transgender in Andhra Pradesh:
- Skill development programs
- Financial assistance
- Ration cards
- Plots
- Scholarships
Apart from these major benefits government will also provide loans from banks so that people from transgenders community can start their own business. Government is also planning to build special toilets in the public places such as malls, cinema halls etc for transgenders.
Arogyasri scheme will be extended to transgenders to provide subsidized bus passes and health care.
