Prize Scheme for Anganwadi Worker is started by the State Government of Uttarakhand (Women & Child Development) for the Anganwadi Workers. The main purpose of the scheme is to give an award of an amount of Rs. 5,000/- and a citation to the excellent Anganwadi workers who did an exceptional job in the state. Anganwadi is a type of rural mother and child care center in India. Anganwadi Kendras were started by the Indian government in 1975 as part of the Integrated Child Development Services program to combat child hunger and malnutrition. The Anganwadi worker and helper are the basic functionaries of the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) who run the Anganwadi center and implement the ICDS scheme in coordination with the functionaries of the health, education, rural development and other departments. Their services also include the health and nutrition of pregnant women, nursing mothers, and adolescent girls. Regarding this, government has given award and citation for appreciating Anganwadi Workers in the state

Anganwadi Workers Role & Responsibilities:

1. Non-formal preschool education to children of 3-5 years of age
2. Supplementary nutrition to children below 6 years of age
3. Supplementary nutrition to women who are pregnant and nursing, esp. from the low-income group
4. Nutrition, health education and health check-ups to all women in the age group of 15- 45 years
5. Immunization of all children less than 6 years of age
6. Immunization against tetanus for all the expectant mothers
7. Antenatal care of expectant mothers
8. Postnatal care of nursing mothers
9. Caring for newborn babies
10. Caring for all children under 6 years of age
11. Referral of serious cases of malnutrition or illness to hospitals, upgraded PHCs/ Community Health Services or district hospitals

1. Applicant should be resident of Uttarakhand state
2. All Anganwadi Workers are eligible for this award
