The Punjab Government Employees and Pensioners Health Insurance Scheme are started by Punjab government (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) for government serving employee and pensioners on the compulsory basis. The main objective of this scheme is to provide cashless health insurance to cover indoor medical diseases. The insurance scheme will pay all expenses incurred in course of medical treatment with free medical. Under the scheme, all Punjab government employee such as all personnel of Punjab government including all India service officers, serving, newly recruited, retired and retiring officers.

Benefits of Punjab Government Employees and Pensioners Health Insurance Scheme:
- The Punjab Government Employees and Pensioners Health Insurance Scheme provide benefits in the form of cashless insurance and free medical treatment. Some benefits are mentioned below
- The insurance scheme will pay all expenses incurred in course of medical treatment with free medical for arising out of any illness, diseases, injury
- Coverage of preexisting diseases: All diseases under this scheme will be covered from one day
- Pre and Post hospitalization: Benefits up to 7-day pre-hospitalization and up to 30 days post hospitalization respectively which would covered all related to treatment
- Maternity benefit This means treatment taken in Empanelled Hospital/Nursing Home arising from childbirth including Normal Delivery/Caesarean Section including miscarriage or abortion induced by accident or other medical emergencies
- This benefit would be limited to only first two living children in respect of Dependent Spouse/Female Employee covered from day one under the policy, without any waiting period
Required eligibility and conditions for applying Punjab Government Employees and Pensioners Health Insurance Scheme:
- Candidate must residence of Punjab state
- Under scheme, all Punjab government employee such as all personnel of Punjab government including all India service officers, serving, newly recruited, retired and retiring officers
- The scheme shall cover a family and dependents as defined under Punjab Medical Attendant Rules [CS (MA) Rules, 1940]. Newborn shall be considered insured from day one till the expiry of the current policy
