The Government of India is working on Samajik Suraksha Yojana (SSY) for labors working in unorganized sectors. The Social Security Scheme is aimed at providing social security to the labors and workers in unorganized sectors. Labor and Employment Ministry has created draft of the scheme and government is planning to announce the scheme in 2019 before the general elections. People who are not covered under EPFO and ESIC will be provided cover under the scheme.
Samajik Suraksha Yojana coverage: The scheme will provide following coverage to the unorganized labor
- Pension
- Disabilities
- Life insurance
- Operations
- Pregnancy
- Unemployment
Samajik Suraksha Yojana will be implemented across India and government is already consulting state government has asking them for their inputs and suggestions for the scheme.
