Samaras Gram Yojana launched by Panchayat, Rural Housing & Rural Development Department, Gujarat Government in 2001. Under this scheme, Gram Panchayat elects unanimously with no party no symbol, declares as a samaras village and gets samaras award or grant for village development. In state elections, there are parties and symbols, but there is no symbol of any party in gram panchayat elections. There are convincing reasons for this is a unique custom of Arya culture. Original existence of the village, it’s originality, it’s events, customs etc. are preserved. Various communities-castes take part in festivals on many occasions and have maintained family spirit. In order to see that such specialty is not scattered the government launched samaras scheme. The government has sanctioned a substantial amount of Rs. 2306.40 lakh as incentive grant. The incentive given by the government is used for community developmental works of the village of pure drinking water scheme, internal approach roads, facilities of street lights, primary school rooms, primary treatment, water have sting scheme, drainage and sewerage scheme, preliminary facilities etc
Features of Samaras Gram Yojana:
- Samaras Gram Yojana this scheme declares village as a samaras gram, in all 3,794 gram panchayats have become samaras in six stages till now
- It is a scheme which removes enmity, plotting, hostility in the village
- This scheme plays important role in improving and maintaining unique culture of No party and symbol in gram panchayat election
- Village people gather and decide representatives from among them unanimously for the administration of Gram Panchayat, where many persons give up their rights, act in unsparing way for society and adopt noble approach for higher purpose of welfare of the people
- Financial grant is given to Gram Panchayat to elect unanimously. Amount is mentioned
- 60,00 to Gram Panchayats having population up to 5000
- 1,00,000 to other Gram Panchayats
- Those Gram panchayat elect unanimously get samaras award
