Tamil Nadu government has recently come up with a scheme for Kuruvai cultivation in the state. This announcement was made by Chief Minister MK Stalin. Scheme details were made available through an official statement from the Chief Minister’s office on June 17, 2021. This scheme is basically announced to encourage Kuruvai cultivation in the state. The word Kuruvai is a Tamil word which refers to short term. Kuruvai cultivation covers mostly paddy which requires abundant water flow. These are generally grown Cauvery delta region of the state. Under this scheme, the state government will provide all the necessary farm equipment on subsidy, paddy seeds, biofertilizers and other items as required for kuruvai cultivation. This scheme would be implemented fully in Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts and partly in Cuddalore, Ariyalur and Trichy districts.
