The HRD Minister of India Prakash Javadekar launched SHREYAS – Scheme for Higher Education Youth in Apprenticeship & Skills. Skills training & industrial apprenticeship opportunities will be provided to the fresh graduates across India.
The primary objective of the scheme is to make graduates employable & increase their chances of getting a good job in the industries. Three central government ministries will implement the scheme jointly. The ministries includes Human Resource Development Minstry, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, & the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Relevant industries skills trainings are mandatory for the graduates along with their formal degrees to get the good job. It will make them skilled, capable & employable in todays competitive environment.
SHREYAS Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicable to graduates across India
- The scheme is primarily for non-technical graduates
Technical graduates mostly has skills required for the employment. Most of the skills are imparted as part of the degree programs for the technical graduates. Non-technical graduates lacks skills trainings. Hence the SHREYAS – Scheme for Higher Education Youth in Apprenticeship & Skills will help make them employable.

SHREYAS Portal:
Government will soon launch official SHREYAS portal. Colleges, universities, industries & beneficiary students will be able to login to the portal. It will have resources for them. The SHREYAS website will also have details of the available apprenticeship/internship opportunities.
SHREYAS Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria:
Students will be provided internship opportunities based on their educational background. All the courses will be available from the academic year April-May 2019.
40 educational institutes has agreed to participate in the embedded apprenticeship courses.
