On December 2, 2021 Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mr. Virendra Kumar announced Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas – SRESHTA scheme for the betterment of Scheduled Caste students in the country. This scheme is about to be launched on December 6, 2021 during the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Divas in the remembrance of Dr. BR Ambedkar. This celebration would be a part of ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav marking the 75 years of independence. Under SRESHTA scheme the central government will support the meritorious scheduled caste students by providing them with quality residential education in reputed private schools. This scheme would help the students to get quality education in schools with residential facilities. This scheme tends to focus on welfare and upliftment of the scheduled category students in the country.
