On November 26, 2020, CMO Mamata Banerjee announced ‘Swasthya Sathi Scheme’ for the entire state of West Bengal. This scheme was originally launched in 2016 and now the scheme is expanded to cover even the no-insured in the state. Under this scheme, the West Bengal government provided cash free insurance to each and every family in the state. This is a health scheme launched by the state. Keeping in mind the underlying COVID-19 situations in the state this scheme is announced for everyone. Under this scheme the cash free insurance of Rs. 5 lakhs will be provided to each family.

Objectives and Benefits:
- The main objective of the scheme is to protect and cover the residents in the state

Scheme Details:
- Swasthya Sathi scheme is now for each and every family in the state as announced by CMO West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, on November 26, 2020
- It is a health scheme launched for the benefit of the residents in the state
- Under the scheme, each and every family in the state will be provided an insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakhs
- This is a cashless/ cash free scheme
- A smart card will be issued in the name of the female member of the family
- Beneficiaries will get the insurance cover irrespective of gender, religion, caste, age, etc
