The Karnataka Government has announced a start-up funding scheme called Unnati Scheme for SC/ST entrepreneurs who provides solutions to the rural issues. Government will provide funding of Rs. 50 lakh to selected startups. The announcement is made by the Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge. The main objective of the scheme is to empower and support entrepreneurs from the SC/ST community and on the other hand solve rural problems.
What is Unnati Scheme? A startup funding scheme by the government of Karnataka for entrepreneurs from scheduled caste and scheduled tribes community.

Eligibility / How can apply for startup funding?
- Applicable to startups in Karnataka only
- Applicable to startups run by entrepreneurs from SC/ST community
- Applicable to startups which has entrepreneurs from SC/ST community in management and having key stakes
- Startups which are more than 4 years old and has more than half of its workforce in Karnataka and registered in Karnataka
- Startup must be working in following areas: health, waste segregation, sanitation, education and mechanized scavenging

How to register or apply for start-up funding under Unnati Scheme? Registrations and online applications can be made at the Social Welfare Department official website kalyanakendra.com

- Provide your email id and mobile number and click on “Send OTP” button
- You will receive OTP via SMS on your mobile enter the OTP to login
- Follow the instructions, you may need to complete your profile
- Provide all your personal details
- Choose startup funding for SC/ST application forms
- Fill in the form completely
- Upload all the required documents
- Submit your application
Selection Procedure:
- All the application will be scrutinized, all the documents will be verified
- All the valid applications will be sent to selection committee
- A three member committee headed by the Minister will screen all the proposals and evaluate them
- Based on their evaluation selections will be made

- KA government has alloted budget of Rs. 20 crores for the scheme
- Lead to create jobs and skill development in Dalit and Adivasis in the state
- If the startup idea is good and having huge impact government will increase the budget upto Rs. 100 crores
- Shortlisted startups can run pilots for their products and solutions
- They will be given mentoring by government and also by the industry experts
