The Government of India has launched Khelo India Program a National Program for Development of Sports in India. The objective of the scheme is to encourage sports, support athletes/coaches and improve sports infrastructure in India. Sporting talents are identified in their early ages and groomed to make them a good athletes. Various funds and sponsorships are provided to make sure that they can continue with the sports they are interested in. Various competitions too are conducted under the Khelo India Program which are telecast-ed live across the country. Government has alloted a budget of Rs. 1,756 crores will be spent on the program in year 2018-19. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports implements the scheme. Under the Khelo India Scheme, Play India School Games too will be conducted to provide opportunities to the school children and identify their talent. All the national and international games are supported under the Khelo India Initiative such as athletes, archery, badminton, football, boxing, gymnastics, hockey, judo, kabbadi, kho-kho, shooting, swimming, volleyball, weight lifting, wrestling, judo and many more. Cash incentives along with medals are given to the athletes along with their coaches including grass-root coaches. The cash awards are only for coaches of those athletes who won medals at Common Wealth Games, Asian Games, Olympics only.

Khelo India Program Benefits:
- 1,000 atheletes will be identified every year
- They will be given sponsorship of Rs. 5 lakh every year for next 8 years
