The newly elected Chief Minister YS Jagan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh launched YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme. It is a monthly pension scheme for senior citizens, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, fishermen, single women, traditional cobblers, HIV patients & disabled in AP. It is a new version of the existing NTR Bharosa Pension scheme. The CM increased the pension amount & reduced the age limit for the scheme.

Objectives:
- To provide social security to the weaker sections of the society
- To empower & help beneficiaries live their life with dignity
Benefits: Beneficiaries will be provided a monthly based on the categories mentioned below:
- Old age pension: Rs. 2250/month
- Widows, weavers, toddy tappers, fishermen, single women, traditional cobblers, HIV patients: Rs. 2,250/month
- Disable pension: Rs. 3,000/month
- People suffering from chronic kidney disease: Rs. 10,000/month
Eligibility Criteria:
- The scheme is applicable only in Andhra Pradesh
- Only permanent residents of AP can apply
- The pension scheme is applicable only for the senior citizens, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, fishermen, single women, traditional cobblers, HIV patients & disabled
- Age Limit for old age pension: 60 years
AP YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme Highlights:
- The AP pension scheme was the poll promise of the YSRCP party.
- It was the first decision taken by the new government.
- The pension will be increased to Rs. 3,000 per month
- The increase will happen with an increment of Rs. 250
- The increment will be applicable from 1st June 2019
- Earlier the age limit for the scheme was 65 years but now it is reduced to 60 years
