The government of Maharashtra will be implementing Acharya Balshastri Jambhekar Sanman Yojana (ABJSY) a pension scheme for retired senior journalists in the state. The government has allocated a budget of Rs. 15 crore in the supplementary budget to be presented in the mansoon session of the Maharashtra assembly. The provision of the budget for the scheme is made under the grants-in-aid (non-salary) to the Director of Publicity. All the journalists unions across the state were demanding pension for last 2 decades The Maharashtra Union of Working Journalist (MUWJ) had formed a committee which studied various journalists issues and came up with their suggestions and submitted to the government for consideration.
