On December 17, 2020, CMO Gujarat Mr. Vijay Rupani, launched the “Citizen Smart Card” scheme through video conferencing. This scheme is launched for Mandvi municipality, in Surat city, Gujarat. This smart card is launched for the ease of the citizens focusing on the rural parts through digital platform. It aims at providing maximum possible transparency in government services. It is a unique initiative started for Mandvi municipality currently, it may further extend to various other local bodies. This scheme will enable a corruption free environment. Government aims at providing 51 digital services in 8000 villages by the end of December, 2020.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:
- The main objective of this scheme is to provide ease to the citizens
- It will enable the citizens to provide a transparent mechanism for the government services to citizens
- This scheme aims to provide total 51 services in 8000 villages
- It will enable corruption free transactions directly between the citizens and government
- It will also tend to digitalise the data and overall mechanism in the town
- This scheme will enable development of the town and thereby the city and state in the long run
Scheme Details:
- Citizen Smart Card scheme was launched yesterday, i.e., December 17, 2020 by CMO Gujarat MR. Vijay Rupani through video conferencing
- This unique scheme is launched for Mandvi Municipality.
- The residents of Mandvi town will be able to get the benefit of the scheme
- Under this scheme, the government tends to give total 51 services to 8000 villages by the end of the month of December
- Currently 35 services have already started
- A core database has been prepared under this scheme
- Around 7000 families are covered for preparing the database
- Under the scheme, details like Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Election Card and Photo will be required
- The data collected from the citizens will be stored in the central government’s digital locker
- Citizens will be issued smart cards accordingly
- These smart cards will be used to avail services like income certificate, caste certificate, BPL certificate, etc
- It will lead to quick corruption free services directly to the citizens
- This scheme thereby notifies digitization of the services and overall mechanism thereby benefiting the citizens of the town
