The government of Maharashtra has approved a new scheme called as Farm Mechanization Scheme (FMS). The objective of this scheme is to encourage farmers in the state to use modern methods and machines in day to day agricultural activities. The government is planning to launch thr scheme in 2018-19. The state government will fully sponsor this scheme. With the scheme the government wants to make sure that the farmers income is doubled by 2022 and they can save on their labour and other expenses.
The scheme is applicable to all the farmers across maharashtra. 35% subsidy will be provided to small and marginal and SC/ST farmers along with 50% on other farm equipments. For other farmers in general there is a subsidy of 25% on tractor purchase and 40% on other farm equipments.
Rs 50 crores has been allocated for the scheme in year 2018 and same will be given next year 2019 for the scheme. The state government will implement the scheme based on the guidelines from the central government sub-plan on farm mechanization project.

For implementing this scheme, the state government will adopt the guidelines of the central governments sub-plans on farm mechanization projects. Banks can also apply for the scheme in order to provide loans to the farmers for agricultural equipments purchase. The self-help farmer groups will be given priority under the scheme.
The scheme will help farmers a lot. As there is a scarcity of labour and increasing labour costs. Mechanization will save time and cost.
