UP govt to deposit predefined amount into the bank accounts of the girl child from birth till the graduation or marriage

The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced Kanya Sumangala Yojna (KSY) for girls in the state. Under the scheme financial assistance will be provided to the girls by the time they complete their education or get married. The scheme was announced in the UP Budget 2019-20. The primary objective of the scheme is to empower girls & provide financial security to them.

A predetermined amount will be deposited by the government into the bank account for the girls. The amount will be deposited at the time of birth, vaccination, admission to class 1st, 6th, 10th, graduation & wedding. A handsome amount will be available to the girls when they graduate & get married. The government`s objective is to protect girl child & make sure they are given good education & health.

The scheme is based on the BJP`s scheme launched by Ex CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan called Ladli Lakshmi Yojana. The Yogi Adityanath led UP government has allocated the budget of Rs. 1,200 crore for the scheme.

Eligibility Criteria: The scheme is applicable only to the girls in UP. Other details such as family income criteria, age limit etc are yet to be announced by the government.

Benefits: Government will deposit fixed amount into the girls bank account at following intervals They will be given lump sum amount after they complete their education & get married.

  • 1st Installment: At the time of girl`s birth
  • 2nd Installment: At the time of vaccination
  • 3rd Installment: On admission to the 1st standard
  • 4th Installment: In the 6th standard
  • 5th Installment: In 9th class
  • 6th Installment: During graduation
  • 7th Installment: At the time of wedding

UP Kanya Sumangala Yojna (KSY) Application Form & How to Apply?

The scheme will be implemented from 1st April 2019. Government is expected to start distribution of application forms upon the start of implementation of the scheme. List of required documents & application procedure is also not available as yet.
