India is known for its wide variety of communities and traditions, and one of them is Cobbler community which needs many helping hands to bring that community up. There’s a scheme named “Charma Prashikshan Yojana” in English it is “Leather Training Scheme” which has the main objective of bringing this occupation into main stream and bring advancement in this field. Under the scheme efforts are being made to increase the number of people who want to undertake any self-employment and scheme promotes Leather (Charma) occupation to them with pretty good training and tools. With all such facilities, there will be definitely a better well trained person who’ll be working into this stream. The scheme was started in the year 1990 and since then it made many youths trained for different leather related jobs like manufacturing leather footwear, leather toys and nagra juti with the help of latest technology. The training is given via Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and course is of two months under which everything essential is given to the beneficiary.
Benefits of Leather Training Scheme:
- Financial assistance: The scheme provides stipend of Rs. 500 per month to the beneficiary who will be learning the techniques at ITI institutes to afford the books and other stationaries
- Assistance to buy a kit: With the motive of promoting self-employment scheme will provide Rs. 1000 per month to buy tool kit to start a self-employment venture
- Introduction to latest technology: With the scheme into action the beneficiary will be introduced to the latest technologies which will indirectly reduce the errors and time taken to do a specific work
- Increased frequency of work: Since the person is having command over the technology, he/she will have increased frequency of work and more and more work will be finished in short time
- Opportunity to start own venture: In the era of unemployment, these guys coming out of the scheme will have that skill and opportunity to start their own venture and start earning instead of living unemployed
Eligibility for Leather Training Scheme:
- Person should be the resident of Rajasthan state
- Should have minimum education qualification till 8th standard
- Must be in the age group of 18-35 years
- Any person from SC/ST/Minority/OBC and General is eligible
Documents Required:
- Residential Proof (electricity bill, water connection bill, gas connection bill, ration card, voter id, Aadhar card, pan card or driving license)
- Aadhar Card
- Caste certificate
- Educational qualification certificates (mark sheets, degrees, diplomas) (Note: min qualification 8th standard pass)
- Leaving Certificate
- Ration Card
- Passport size photograph (min 2 copies)
- Hand written application which has to be submitted to the principal of nearest ITI college
- Bank passbook having (bank name, branch name, account holder name, account number, IFSC & MICR code)
Application form:
To apply for the scheme, the beneficiary has to write an application on a blank paper describing his condition and expressing his desire to enroll for the scheme course and has to affix required documents with the application, once done with this, application should be submitted to the principal of nearest ITI College hosting for the course.
