Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is the act started in the year 2005 under which the unemployed rural people are given min 100 days of unskilled daily wage job. According to the eleventh five year plan the number of Indians living below poverty line was 300 million which is a huge number and can contribute in India’s economy if they also contribute. So, the betterment of rural people became the prime mission of the govt. and hence the act came into existence. The act is implemented by state government by the funding of central government and the act is administered by gram panchayats. The implementation has brought prosperity to village dwellers and this act with numerous other act is the reason that more women’s in village are working than urban women’s.
