On September 6, 2021 the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced a new scheme for Good Samaritan. In case of road accident, the person who saves the life of road accident victim by taking him to the hospital within an hour of accident is a Good Samaritan. Under this scheme good Samaritan will be given a cash reward of Rs. 5000. Any individual can be awarded maximum 5 times a year. In case the good Samaritan saves more than one victim of road accident, he would be awarded Rs. 5000 per victim. The ministry will select 10 worthiest good Samaritans who have been awarded in a year and will give national level award and Rs. 1 lakh reward each. This scheme intends to encourage more people to ahead and help the road accident victim wherever possible. It will create new role models for the public.
