The Government of Chhattisgarh has approved Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana (SBBY) to provide free/subsidized electricity to all the domestic electricity consumers in the state. The objective of the scheme is to make sure that there is electricity in all the households across the state. Below Poverty Line (BPL) families will not get free electricity i.e. they dont have to pay any electricity bill for usage under 30 units and after that they will have to pay bill at flat rate of Rs. 100.For others government has subsidized electricity at a flat rate needs to be paid every month i.e. all the electricity consumers who consume electricity less than 100 units every month will get a flat bill every month.
What is Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana CH? A subsidized electricity scheme by the government of Chattisgargh, free electricity will be provided to the BPL consumers and to other domestic consumers will get a flat bill for less electricity consumption.
Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana Objectives:
- To make sure all the households in the Chattisgargh has electricity connection
- To empower BPL families in the state
- To provide relief on the electricity bills to the citizens of the state
Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana Eligibility / Who can apply?
- Scheme is applicable only to the citizens of Chattisgargh
- Free electricity or electricity at the flat rate of Rs. 100 per month is applicable to all the BPL families in the state
- Electricity at flat rate is applicable to all the citizens of the state
Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana 2018-19 Benefits:
- For Below Poverty Line (BPL) families:
- Free electricity for consumption less than 30 units per month
- Flat bill of Rs. 100 per month after 30 units
- For domestic consumers
- Non-BPL families with load less than 1KW and unit consumed less than 100 per month
- Such families can choose to pay electricity bill at a flat rate per month

- A free/subsidized electricity bill scheme for citizens of Chattisgargh
- BPL families to get free/subsidized electricity
- Non-BPL families to get option to pay flat electricity bill
- 12 lakh poor families to get benefits of the scheme
- The scheme will save Rs. 500 crores of the BPL and poor families collectively across the state
- The CH government has also launched Chattisgargh Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana for farmers also
